Summer

Summer smoked a pack and a half of cigarettes every day and never got cancer.

She bathed in the sun every day and never wrinkled, spotted, nor sagged.

She spent whatever she wanted on whatever she wanted and never went poor.

She ate little.

She ate a lot.

Her figure never changed.

Teeth were always white and straight.

Lashes long.

Lips forever full.

She loved whomever she wanted and no one ever left her.

She had many children and was never a mother (never bring it up).

She faced forward and never looked back

at the old woman right behind her.
